El Salvador has officially started building its new national stadium, a project that is set to change the country’s sporting and cultural landscape. With a planned capacity of 50,000 seats—plus 250 wheelchair-accessible spaces, VIP areas, and press facilities—making it the largest in Central America.
This ambitious project is designed not only to host football matches and international tournaments but also to serve as a venue for concerts and cultural events. According to officials, the stadium will feature state-of-the-art facilities, modern infrastructure, and an innovative design that reflects El Salvador’s push toward global recognition.
President Nayib Bukele first announced the project in 2023, when the symbolic first stone of the “megaproject” was laid. He described it as a stadium that would become an architectural icon for the nation while boosting El Salvador’s ability to attract world-class events.
The investment exceeds US$100 million, with construction expected to take around three years. Authorities have also emphasized sustainability, highlighting the use of renewable materials and recycled energy sources to help reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Once completed, the venue will be the most modern stadium in Latin America and a symbol of El Salvador’s growing ambition to establish itself as a regional hub for sports, entertainment, and cultural experiences.
