The architectural plans for two new stadiums for the football teams Shabab Al Ahli and Al Wasl have been approved by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai.
The Al Rawayyah 3 and Al Jaddaf areas, each with 20,000 capacity, will house the new grounds. The project aims to develop local talent, expand fan bases, and meet the future needs of both clubs.
The Shabab Al Ahli stadium is surrounded by greenery and pedestrian zones. Its innovative design includes a circular roof supported by columns that represent the moon.
It also has eco-friendly features and a design intended to blend in with the smart requirements of the city. A number of sports fields will be close by, and the Al Wasl stadium will be surrounded by open green spaces as part of its sustainable design.
The project intends to support the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, a plan put forth by Dubai’s Vice President and Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, to enhance the emirate’s reputation as a major regional and international sports hub.
According to Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed, chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, “the project demonstrates the dynamic evolution of Dubai’s sporting sector and the emirate’s dedication to enhancing sporting achievements and widening the fan base.”
“The project aims to bolster Dubai’s clubs by enhancing their facilities and stadiums, thereby supporting their development strategies and nurturing local talent.”
According to Sheikh Mansoor, the two football teams are “among the largest and most esteemed in both the country and the region,” and the new stadiums will be able to accommodate their needs going forward.
The estimated completion date and cost of the projects have not been disclosed.
