Manchester United defeated Luton 2-1 in a difficult match thanks to a record-breaking double from Rasmus Hojlund. It was the team’s fourth straight league win, moving Erik ten Hag’s team closer to the top four.
The 21-year-old put United ahead within seven minutes, becoming the youngest player in Premier League history to score in six consecutive games. He finished expertly after Amari’i Bell made a mistake, and then he immediately chested in Alejandro Garnacho’s corner kick after 36 seconds.
After Luton put United under pressure with multiple clear-cut opportunities, Carlton Morris pulled one back to cap off an electrifying first fifteen minutes. Casemiro was unlucky not to be sent off after lunging at Ross Barkley while already on a booking.
After the break, when Casemiro was substituted, United appeared more composed and had a good chance to end the match as both Bruno Fernandes and Garnacho circle the goalie for Luton but fall short.
But despite some late Luton pressure—including Ross Barkley’s game-winning kick hitting the bar—United managed to hold on and close the gap to fifth-place Tottenham, with a top-five finish potentially sufficient for a Champions League berth the following year.
