Herzog and de Meuron has released images of its impressive unrealised competition entry to build the Grand Stade de Casablanca in Morocco ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The architectural concept proposed by the architectural studio Herzog and de Meuron is based on the very premise that people will remember it for many years like the historical architectures that we all admire from ancient times. The architecture of the new stadium is very iconic, but simple and clean. It does not require luxurious extravagance, but a classic and majestic look. At the same time, the new stadium is a strong expression of Morocco’s modernity and a herald of the digital age.
Populous is now proceeding with the design of what will be the world’s largest football stadium with a capacity of 115,000 people.
Morocco is set to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
