The renovation is projected to cost $45 million, with the capacity increasing to 18,600 seats. The estimated timeline for completion is 29 months. During this period, the team will continue to play in the facility.
Empoli’s “Stadium of the Future” is becoming a reality with the presentation of the renovation project for the “Carlo Castellani – Computer Gross Arena.” The project is estimated to cost $45 million and will take 29 months to complete, potentially extending to 36 months to accommodate the team’s ongoing use of the facility during renovations. The stadium’s capacity will increase from around 16,000 to 18,600 seats and will feature eco-sustainable designs, stores, and commercial areas.
At the project presentation, Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, expressed his satisfaction: “I am happy for this journey that I have followed step by step over the last 10 years, and that has now reached a crucial stage. I have experienced doubts, questions, and difficulties, but here, they have never given up, with the flame of hope always remaining lit. We await the inauguration of the construction site, and this stadium will be built thanks to the determination of President Fabrizio Corsi, with full support from the Government to make the economic framework sustainable. The public debate will be important, and I will be present if deemed useful.”
Empoli Mayor Alessio Mantellassi emphasized the need for an open debate with the city, stating that the municipal administration is ready to engage. The project will undergo various technical evaluations and will be discussed in the city council on July 18 and 29. “We want to hear the opinions of all citizens,” said Mantellassi, “for a path that is faced with maturity and seen as an opportunity for Empoli.”
