The Oakland Athletics have presented plans for a new $1.5 billion stadium in Las Vegas, which will be the largest in the MLB.
The stadium will hold 33,000 people and feature a 2.5-acre plaza and an 18,000-square-foot jumbotron.
The stadium’s unique architectural elements, such as the world’s biggest cable-net glass windows and baseball pennant-inspired architecture, seek to provide a unique spectator experience while incorporating natural sunlight and vistas of the Las Vegas Strip.
The design is led by architectural companies Bjarke Ingels Group and Howard, Needles, Tammen, and Bergendoff, with an emphasis on innovation and technical skill.
The Athletics want to enhance the ballpark design over the following year, with the goal of debuting for the 2028 season.
While MLB owners have authorized the A’s move to Las Vegas, practical details and potential interim arrangements for home games are still being worked out, including the option of staying in Oakland or playing in other places like as Salt Lake City or Sacramento.
